Guruvayur Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Krishna, located in the town of Guruvayur in the Thrissur district of Kerala, India. It is one of the most famous and important temples in South India and is known as the “Dwarka of the South.”

The temple is believed to have been constructed in the 16th century and is known for its rich history and architecture. It has a unique style of architecture with a central shrine and four gopurams (towering entrance gateways) on four sides, each of which is adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures.

The main deity of the temple is Lord Krishna, who is worshipped here in the form of a child, popularly known as Guruvayurappan. The idol is made of a rare and sacred stone called Patala Anjana and is said to be over 5,000 years old.

The temple is also famous for its elephant sanctuary, which is home to more than 50 elephants. These elephants are considered sacred and are an integral part of the temple rituals and festivities.

The temple is visited by millions of devotees every year, especially during the annual festival of Guruvayur Ekadasi, which is celebrated in the month of November or December. The festival is a grand affair and attracts thousands of devotees from all over the country.
